A POEM TO CONNECT US ALL

Utilising our creative network to connect artists and brands for social good.
“I have never written a poem before and I don’t know if I ever will again…”
Whether you’ve now mastered the art of baking, Zooming, gaming or simply watching paint dry, I think we can safely say we’re one loaf of banana bread away from losing all sense of self and personal identity.
Alas, lockdown 3.0 has brought to light many new (& existing) challenges and, unfortunately, no one is immune to these hardships. “We’re all in the same boat!” How often have you heard that one over the past year, eh? But the truth is. We are. We really are. And what do you do when you’re all in the same boat? You raise the mast, scrub the deck and listen to some great music!
Introducing Sam Tompkins
You may have first seen 23 year-old, Sam Tompkins, covering some classics on the streets of Brighton in 2018 with friend, Ren…
No? Well, maybe you saw this clip of them jamming at a train station last year after a gym session?
Either way, Sam is a pitch perfect, singer/songwriter from Brighton who’s performed alongside the likes of Krept & Konan, MNEK, Bastille, Passenger and now, the NHS.
Introducing NO WORDS
It’s difficult to describe the personal challenges 2020 brought us so we’ll just use NO WORDS instead.
But how do you get 18-24 year olds to listen, I hear you ask? Well, that’s a great question.
Answer: You hit up your boy, Sam Tompkins, and ask him to write and perform a lockdown poem that represents the sacrifices and compromises we’re all having to make during this pandemic.
19,000 views and 350+ comments later, Sam’s ever-engaged audience lit up his Instagram with messages and comments that celebrated his positivity & creativity in these trying times.
The Link Up
In partnership with NO WORDS, Sam executed an inspiring and moving musical piece that embodied the real struggles we ALL have been facing
over the past year or so due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
“It might be a letter to myself, but it’s also a letter to EVERYONE who is making personal sacrifices to keep others safe in these times.”
Stay Safe!
You can’t change the world with an Instagram post. But you can make your corner a little brighter — Education is often the key to freedom and the pandemic has been no different.
“I miss my friends, family and normality as a whole so so much and I know you all probably do too, but please know how much of a difference staying at home is making.”
So, when you feel like you can’t bake one more cake, Zoom one more Zoom, play one more game… Just remember, there’s another 7 billion you’s out there who are going through the pain of feeling the same.
Stay happy & stay safe x
